In this blog post I'm going to reflect on the YouTube goals that I have set up for myself for 2021. So I started the year at about 42k views and about 850 subscribers. I was hoping that by the end of the year I would get to about 2500 subscribers and 250K views. We are already now in September 2021 and I'm nowhere near my goals. Currently I just have about 67k views and I have about 1.07k subscribers. Clearly I'm making progress, but its nowhere near as fast as I would like it to be. Anyway I will have to make the best out of the remaining time to achieve my goals or come closer to it. And here's the vlog that I made earlier this year on my YouTube goals for 2021.
Alright guys, that's all for my blog post this time around. Don't forget to like, comment and subscribe to my YouTube channel.
In this blog post I'm sharing a vlog that I did on a high tea buffet at Atmosphere 360 revolving restaurant, at the top of KL Tower here. So I went for the buffet in September 2020 and I uploaded the video to YouTube in January 2020. Then I thought it would do well since there are a lot other videos or vlogs on the revolving restaurant and I thought that I would get a lot of suggested views. So I'm a bit disappointed that so far it still did not pass the 1000 views mark. As of August 2021, it has only about 484 views. But looking at it overall it did not do all that bad.
Anyway here's the traffic source for the vlog.
So YouTube search still does contribute to the majority of the traffics for the views and as I anticipated it did receive some suggested views. Its just that perhaps it did not get as much as the suggested views that I hope it would get. Anyway it is also possible that the views might be suppressed due to the pandemic as we have our second lock down beginning in June 2021 and hence people might not be able to go out to dine and as a consequence they possible watch less food related vlog too. So hopefully once the lockdown is over the views would pick up again.
Anyway guys, here's the vlog if you'd like to have a look:
Alright guys, that's all for my blog post this time around. Don't forget to like, to comment and to subscribe to my YouTube channel and hopefully this blog will help you to gauge whether its worth to make a similar video if you want to start a similar channel.
In this blog post, I'm sharing a YouTube #shorts that I did about the Blue Lagoon Beach in Port Dickson some 100km away from Kuala Lumpur here. Port Dickson is well known among the locals as the place to go to if you want to go to the beach in the west coast of the peninsular. There are a few beaches that you can go to there including the Blue Lagoon beach which is also known as the Pantai Tanjung Biru in the Malay language as well as the Teluk Kemang Beach. They are actually located quite near to each other (about 5 mins drive away).
So I actually went to the beach in September 2020 but the YouTube shorts was uploaded in November 2020. I did not even took the original clip vertically and so the 9:16 format for the shorts video was done through editing. But surprisingly the video did quite well in getting the views of up to 6K.
Anyway here's the traffic source for the YouTube shorts and mostly the traffics come from the shorts feature itself and notice that the views came in suddenly and then later it plateaued and would only get a little bit of views from the other traffic sources.
Anyway I don't do YouTube shorts anymore because it doesn't count toward the watch hours but I do feel that having the YouTube shorts did expose my channel to those who might otherwise not be aware of my channel.
Here's the YouTube shorts if you guys would like to have a look:
Alright guys, that's all for my blog posting this time around. Don't forget to like, comment and to subscribe to my YouTube channel.
In this blog post, I'm sharing my vlog on how to increase the average view duration of your YouTube videos. There were three things that I did to increase the average view duration namely cutting down my intro and outtro and doing lots of jumpcuts to make sure that the story would move forward quickly.
I normally go by the general rule of not having a scene stays for more than 3 seconds and the rule seemed to have improved my audience retention. Before implementing these measures I would have a poor 10 to 20 percent audience retention, but once I started to implement all these measures then my audience retention have gone up to be around the 20 to 30 percent average view duration mark. I also have a few videos that have gone past the 50 percent mark.
Anyway here's the video if you guys would like to have a look..

In this post, I'm sharing aYoutube shorts clip that I did on the bread pudding and tea that I had at Tim's Teapot here in Kuala Lumpur. Here's a picture of the bread pudding in a small bowl. It was very buttery and delicious.
I don't have the record on the pricing anymore because this blog post was written about four months after I posted this on YouTube and I went to the place way earlier than that. But you can expect to pay about RM20 or about USD5 for the pudding and the tea.
The place is located some 10 minutes outside of the city centre, so you need to take a grab to go there and there is no nearby train station that you can walk from to go there. Anyway here's the link to Tim's Teapot if you want to find more information.
Also here's my YouTube shorts if you guys would like to have a look. So far it has some 368 views and that's not too bad for my channel's standard.

In this blog post I'm sharing a vlog of mine that I did on how to get to the Jeoel jewelry shop at One Utama Mall by taking the MRT from Bukit Bintang to Bandar Utama here in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. The journey would take about half an hour and its quite convenient since the Bandar Utama MRT is integrated with the One Utama Mall. You have to know the shop lots that you are going to though because One Utama Mall is a very huge mall with lots of floors and wings.
Jeoel sells all sorts of silver jewelry especially for women and you can even purchase their products online. I would not mind to go there again if I need to buy any gifts for my family and friends. I did get myself a ring there but I haven't got the time to do a vlog on it yet. So an episode might be coming up in the future. Stay tune for that!

In this blog post, I'm sharing a vlog that I did on how to add a high quality voice over to VLLO using Dolby On on your android phone.
Alright guys, if you have been using VLLO to edit your YouTube videos or vlog then you must have noticed how great it is to use the app to edit video. However the only weak point that I've found out on using the free version of VLLO is that the voiceover tool can quite give a disappointing result. So normally I would do the voice over in another app and then edit the clip further in VLLO. This can pose quite a problem because I then can't edit the voice and the visual separately,
I noticed however that various format of audio files can be placed in the track for background music in VLLO. So that led me to experimenting with Dolby On and recording a voice over and importing the file as a background music to VLLO. This seems to have work and now I am able to edit my audio and video separately on VLLO.
Alright guys, here's the vlog if you guys would like to have a look. It has garnered some 559 views so far so hopefully that would have helped a lot of people to solve the challenge that I've faced with the voice over function on VLLO

In this blog post I'm sharing a vlog that I did on the gift shop at the Petronas Twin Towers here in Kuala Lumpur. I filmed the vlog actually on the same day with my visit to the Petronas Twin Towers skybridge that I have already uploaded to YouTube earlier. I intentionally break up the vlog into two parts so that I have more material to upload to my channel. I'm however surprised that there were no suggested traffics coming from the other vlog.
Instead the majority of the traffics were coming from the channel pages and the browse feature as shown below:
Anyway here's the vlog entry if you guys would like to have a look..

In this blog post, I'm sharing a vlog that I did on my plans to increase the suggested views for my YouTube video. Basically I would be making a vlog or a video similar to the one that has already been made on YouTube. I would also look out for channels similar to mine and make videos about them.
Here's the vlog if you guys would like to have a look..

In this blog post I'm sharing a Youtube #shorts that I did on my visit to the Blue Lagoon beach in Port Dickson, some an hour drive southwest of Kuala Lumpur here.
To do a Youtube shorts, you need to take your video vertically and that your video should not be more than 60 seconds long. You also need to put the hashtags #shorts either in your title or the description of your video.
Anyway I was surprised that the #shorts video has received more than 5K views. This is my first video on YouTube that has reached such a number so naturally I was quite please with the outcome.
Anyway guys, here's the video if you guys would like to have a look..

In this blog post, I'm sharing a lapel mic that I use all the time so far to record and to do voice over together with my Samsung Note-10 mobile phone. I've used it for about half a year now and I am very satisfy with my purchase.
I mostly use it to record my sit in vlog in my bedroom and also to do voice over. But I'm sure it will do equally fine outside, though I have to admit that I haven't done any recording outside with it yet. I got it from a local store here but recently I found out that it is also available from Yichuang official store on Ali Express.
Anyway here's a vlog that I already did if you guys wanted to know what the sound would be like by using the microphone.

Following more than the usual traffics that I've gotten for my last #YouTube #shorts, I've decided to upload another #YouTubeshorts and the views so far are quite encouraging. After two days it has garnered about 170 views and that was good by the standard of my YouTube channel.
Anyway here's the shorts clip if you guys wanted to have a look..

In this blog post, I'm sharing my vlog's entry on how to monetise your blogger blog even before you were approved for Google Adsense. The short answer to that is you can join any affiliate marketing that would allow you to post links on your blog. I did join the Involve Asia affiliate marketing programme and you can also try to join as well through my referral link here.
The Involve Asia Affiliate Marketing programme is especially suitable for you if you are based in the South East Asian region namely Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and the Phillipines. Through this affiliate marketing programme you could be the affiliate marketer for sites such as Lazada, Shopee, Ali Express, Ali Baba, Bli Bli and a whole lot more. You could also work with brands such as Tumi, Cotton On and Watson. If you are based in the United States or the United Kingdom your choices would be limited but you can still work with sites such as Ali Express and Ali Baba. You can also still be able to work with the programme if you are based in India.
You could also monetise your blog by using "Buy me a coffee" website. Click the picture above to go to "Buy me a coffee" website using my referral link.
You could apply to be accepted to their programme if you have "properties" such as a blog, a YouTube channel, a Facebook page or you could also apply through your Instagram and Twitter account. They didn't really list down the requirement for each properties but I got my YouTube account approved with about 700 subscribers and I got my blog approved with about 2500 views. So you could try to apply through my referral link here and once you are accepted you can generate your link to start promoting products that you like and once there is a purchase you would be entitled to a small commission for your work.
Anyway, here's the vlog if you guys would like to have a look:

In this blog posting I'm going to share the traffic sources for my first YouTube shorts. Looked like I'm getting more than my usual traffic but not significantly more. But I might want to do further tests by uploading a few more short clips to YouTube before making a conclusion on whether a YouTube short could bring in more views.
Anyway here's the percentage of traffic sources.

In this blog post, I'm sharing a short entry to my YouTube channel to see whether I'll get more traffic than usual. The clip was just 12 second long and it was about gourmet pies that you can get from Dave's Deli here in Kuala Lumpur. So far I'm seeing more or less the same number of views to the clip compared to my normal entry on my channel.
Allegedly to qualify for a youtube short upload you need to post a vertical clip not more than 60 seconds and that you need to put the hashtags #short in your title or description.
Anyway here's the clip if you guys would like to have a look..

In this blog post, I'm sharing my vlog's entry on how to get more views especially if you are a small YouTube channel. The short answer to that is that you need to optimise your videos or your vlogs for search by having searchable titles, having the appropriate tags and doing content that people are looking for. You also need to make sure that you put in the relevant keywords in your titles and tags.
Alright guys here's the vlog's entry if you guys would like to have a look..

In this blog post I'm sharing a vlog entry of mine on Pokok, a breakfast and brunch restaurant located at Mahsa Avenue at Jalan Universiti, here in Kuala Lumpur. Pokok means a tree and so you'll get to choose to either sit under the trees or inside a fully air conditioned glass house. If you choose the latter you could see the reflection of the sunlight on the floor from the water that they sprinkled on top of the roof.
